I was born in the UK and studied there, at the
University of Nottingham, for a PhD in Mathematics.
I moved to California in 2003, and I'm now VP of Software Development at justin.tv, where we are trying to do for live video what youtube did for pre-recorded video.

Some things I like:
Computing:
I taught myself programming when I was nine years old on a
ZX81,
and I've been making computers do fun things ever since. I'm a big fan of Lisp, and once
embedded a Scheme interpreter in the Linux kernel (why not?).
I've also written a search engine for Lisp documentation,
and a multiplayer crossword game. I've written a ton of software at justin.tv, including a highly scalable chat system.
Photography, rock-climbing, kayaking, and playing the guitar.
