B i l l M o o r i e r
I was born in the UK and studied at the University of Nottingham, for a PhD in Mathematics. I moved to California, and worked as VP of Software Development at justin.tv (which later spun-off SocialCam and Twitch) for four years. I later served as CTO of another Y Combinator startup, ZeroCater, for almost a year.
I taught myself programming when I was nine years old, on a ZX81, and I've been making computers do fun things ever since. I once embedded a Scheme interpreter in the Linux kernel (why not?). I've written a search engine for Lisp documentation, an MRI explorer, and a library for realtime pitch-detection on the web. I wrote a lot of software at justin.tv, including a highly scalable chat system and much of the company's iPhone app.
I enjoy photography, hiking, kayaking, flying and making noise. In my spare time I like to hack both hardware and software, and play lego with my daughters Zoe and Alice.
My family name was originally Bland. In 2008, when I got married, my wife and I both changed our names to Moorier.
